Coach theleaderswho coach.

I’m Kris MacLellan. I’ve coached leaders since 2013, and I’ve run a business as its CEO. I know what it takes to grow people while being held to the numbers.

How I see the role

Great leaders
create leaders.

The best people leaders don’t just hit their numbers. They grow the people around them into leaders too.

This role is about making that happen across Customer Retail. I’d help your people leaders become great head coaches, so they own the results and grow your next leaders. I’d work through your system (Performance+, Leadership+ and Service & Customer+), alongside Learning & Capability.

How I work

A little of
how I work.

  1. Tough on standards&Tender on people

High standards and real care go together. People hear hard feedback when they know you’re on their side.

Sounds like“That didn’t meet the standard we agreed, and I know you can hit it. What got in the way?”

  2. Seek first to understandThen be understood

Most performance problems look different once you know what’s really getting in the way. I listen and watch first.

Sounds like“I noticed coaching has dropped off the last few weeks. What’s been happening?”

  3. Know what good looks likeThen define great

Good is the standard. Great is what a leader could become. I help leaders name both, so they know what to stretch for.

Sounds like“Good is the huddle happening every day. Great is the team running it and bringing a customer story.”

What would you do?

Why me

What I bring.
What I’d learn.

I bring

  • Coaching executives and leadership teams since 2013
  • CEO of a ~50-person firm, where I built my leaders’ ability to coach and delegate
  • Designing and running coaching programmes and workshops
  • Army service including physical training instruction

It transfers

  • Embedding coaching across a firm, not yet across a bank network
  • Working within standards and governance, from the Army to a board
  • Measuring uplift: I’d agree lead and lag measures from the start

I’d learn

  • Banking, and the rules your leaders work within
  • Performance+, Leadership+, Service & Customer+ and your shared models
  1. ListenLearn your system and your leaders before coaching anyone.
  2. EmbedObserve, coach and follow up, one habit at a time.
  3. ScaleMake it work without me in the room.
